River city ransom underground moves9/7/2023 ![]() ![]() Several characters have moves that don't work at all. (Possibly a co-op issue) Opening the menu and selecting any of the sub-menus (World Map, Options & Settings, Select Character) frequently fails to load the sub-menu and displays nothing but an empty frame. This leads to some unintuitive situations where you've been kicked off the left side and still need to hold left to get back into the screen, which can make you immediately walk back off.ĭuring co-op, only the host can switch to see his character's stats in the menu. If you get kicked off the screen by an enemy, you have to hold the direction you were flying in to get back into the stage. Just from my few hours playing with a friend last night: Might want to give it a few weeks if you're the type to get easily frustrated by rough edges. The game has an amazingly solid core, but it's also full of bugs at the moment. ![]() Scott Pilgrim's art style and music are better, but this is just so good to control. The sense of control is more fluid and tight, and even with a basic character with no moves or level-ups, you can still get by basic enemies with enough patience between blocking, hitting, and grabbing. Honestly it's way better than Scott Pilgrim (at least in gameplay). Many people's familiarity with beat em' ups like this are either fans of the original titles like RCR, Double Dragon, etc. I feel like there's plenty of world to explore, and it's a blast to control and just sit back and play. One big open world, with a running plot, a quirky sense of humor and charm, plenty of baddies to hit and level up hitting, and secrets and places to explore. I haven't been able to dig too deep into the RPG elements yet, but it seems to be just as the first game. I really like the way each character design reflects their movesets and playstyle well. Animations are REALLY good at conveying how hard you're hitting or getting hit, and enemies and characters are incredibly expressive in spite of their 8-bit inspirations. The overall music and style is nice, although the art isn't for everyone. It's really satisfying to string together some hits, land a grab, use another hit to toss them in the air and juggle them away with special attacks and other hits. I really love that you have a lot of room for creativity in combos and gameplay. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creeschĪbout an hour and ten minutes in so far, and it's exactly what I expected and hoped for watching this game over the past few years./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
